Tilt or Stationary?
Tilt or Stationary?
Depending on what you need a trailer for will determine what type of trailer you need. Craig from Stateline Trailers has a few things to say about tilt trailers and ramp type trailers. It all has to to do with if you don’t mind picking up and carrying ramps around to load and unload or if you don't mind standing at the front of the trailer and pumping up the hydraulic lift on a tilt trailer for a few seconds in choosing the right fit.
Choices, Choices
While both trailers get the job done, you have a couple of things to think through. What you need the trailer for, how often you’ll use it, and do you have the right vehicle to pull it? Let’s break down a few things for you, we’re here to help you weigh your options. Ramp type trailers have two loose ramps that store under the deck. So, you would need to think about the possibility of them being stolen or loose, dirty, and smelly after driving on a race track or job. There would be that constant worry driving down the highway. Another thing to think about, if you’re not the best at loading and unloading vehicles on ramps, a ramp trailer might not be the best choice. There’s nothing worse than a wheel falling off a ramp and crashing. With a tilt trailer, you don’t have to worry about missing, you have an entire bed to pull up into. Now with a tilt ramp, your vehicle needs to stay stationary on a slope for a few seconds while you manage the tilt cylinder. The thing is if you don’t have trusted parking breaks or whatever you are hauling can't sit on a 10% slope in gear for up to a minute you might have to reconsider your decision. One good thing if you don’t mind spending a few hundred dollars, a removable winch can be mounted for easy loading of vehicles that don’t run anymore.
